Falmouth Chorale Scholarship-Frederick Johnson Music Award The Falmouth Chorale established a scholarship program in 2008 to honor the work of its long-time conductor, Frederick B. Johnson of East Falmouth. The creation of an annual scholarship to encourage students who are pursuing a music career has been one of the chorale’s long-term goals. The $1,000 award will be given to a qualified high school graduate (public, independent or home-schooled) – from the towns of Falmouth, Bourne, Mashpee, or Sandwich – who is pursuing a music degree from a licensed, degree-granting, post secondary institution. Mr. Johnson has been a music instructor in the Falmouth Schools since 1986. He is the Falmouth High School Chorus Director and an award recipient for outstanding choral conducting and leadership of the ensemble during its participation in National Heritage Music Festivals. Mr. Johnson has also served as president of the Cape Cod Music Educators Association and as an adjudicator for both the All Cape and Islands and Massachusetts South District music festivals. Students can pick up copies of the scholarship application forms from local high school guidance offices or download application and recommendation forms. Completed application forms should be mailed to: Falmouth Chorale Scholarship Committee Applications must be postmarked by April 12. For more information please call scholarship chair at 508-548-3635 or email retasking@gmail.com.
