FALMOUTH CHORALE 2018-2019 SEASON BEGINS AUGUST 28
with Community Open Sing & Play Featuring Favorite Choruses
All singers are invited to the Chorale’s annual Open Community Sing & Play with the Falmouth Chamber Players Orchestra, led by John Yankee. The Open Sing will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 28 at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM to allow singers to get music, find their sections and settle in. Listeners are also welcome. A donation of $5 is suggested.
In a change from previous Open Sings, rather than performing a single work, we will be singing through a selection of beloved choruses from works by Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Haydn, and more. Selections have been primarily drawn from Falmouth Chorale’s repertory over the last several years. Music packets will be provided at the door.
We’ll host a light reception following the event and ask you to bring a simple snack if you are able. John has timed the program to take just about an hour (with a brief break rather than an intermission) in hopes that people will stay to make or renew connections and learn about the 2018-19 musical calendar for this region.
Originally begun to bring Falmouth Chorale singers back together after a summer hiatus, the purpose of this event has expanded. It now also exposes new singers, musicians and other music lovers to resources in the region and allows members of diverse musical organizations to make music together, to identify potential new members and exchange information about upcoming events. Please use the attached poster to help spread the word.
“Mainly,” says John Yankee, “the open sing is an opportunity to make music with other people who love to sing, enjoy the variety of exceptional choral works, and to have fun.”
We hope to see you on August 28!
